How is the Procedure Performed?
This procedure should only be performed by an experienced (although sadly not always the case) injector who will first assess your under eye area to determine the amount of filler required and if you are the right candidate for treatment. A topical numbing cream may be applied to the area to minimize discomfort during the procedure. The filler is then injected into the under eye area using a fine blunt ended needle called a cannula. The entire procedure takes about minutes, and patients can resume their normal activities immediately after the treatment.

Well, it’s a needle going under your skin, so it’s not going to feel like a spa day. But, most practitioners use a numbing cream to minimize discomfort. In the hands of an experienced injector with good technique and use of a cannula the procedure is generally quite comfortable and largely painless. Due to the UK aesthetic field being largely unregulated there has been a huge rise in non medical injectors and generally injectors with minimal experience and skill performing this procedure. Due to the delicate nature of this particular treatment we often see complications relating to this treatment. The majority of these are both avoidable and reversible and normally stem from either too much filler being injected or being injected too superficially. This is why its paramount you ensure whoever performs this treatment has the relevant experience and track record.
Can it be reversed?
Yes, hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase. So, if you’re not happy with the results or experience any complications, your practitioner can use this enzyme to reverse the effects.
Will it make me look like a different person?
No, tear trough fillers should enhance your natural features, not completely change your appearance. You should still look like yourself, just with less noticeable under-eye bags.
Are there any alternatives?
Yes, there are other options for treating under-eye skin concerns and dark circles, such as eye creams, chemical peels, and laser treatments. However, tear trough fillers are a popular choice because they’re quick, relatively painless, and have immediate results. Its important to note some patient concerns may not serve as good candidates for this treatment and ultimately a surgical procedure termed a blepharoplasty may be indicated/recommended, this can all be determined by having a thorough consultation first with an experienced injector.

The cost of tear trough fillers varies depending on where you live and the practitioner you choose. On average, you can expect to pay between £ per treatment.
